MCP public testing: connect AI to Buddhist studies records
Status updated: 4 November 2026
This is an anonymous, read-only endpoint currently under testing. Its URL and availability may change. Copy the settings to try it yourself. No library account or API key is required for this endpoint; your AI product has its own sign-in and fee requirements.
Primary MCP endpoint (HTTPS)

These results cover the recorded client and case only, not all four tools, three languages or accounts.
This guide does not call MCP or run a search automatically. Perform the steps in your own AI tool; reading this page does not change your configuration.
Illustrated setup flow, not a screenshot of the product.
- Choose CLI / Desktop / ChatGPT
- Configure and confirm connection
- Search once and check requestId
- Open the source link yourself
Claude Code CLI: inspect before adding
- Install and sign in to Claude Code, then open a terminal. MCP is anonymous and read-only, with no MCP token; Claude itself still requires a valid login and usage entitlement.
- Run list first and check existing names, URLs and scopes. Add dlmbs-api only if no entry with that name exists. User scope makes it available across projects.
- Run list again, launch claude and enter /mcp in a new session to check dlmbs-api and the four tools. Keep normal TLS verification enabled.
Inspect existing settings first
claude mcp listAdd only if this name does not already exist
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user dlmbs-api https://api.dlbs.liberal.ntu.edu.tw/mcpCheck again and open a session
claude mcp list
claudeAlready using an old URL or the same name?
Use list and get to inspect the actual name, URL and local/project/user scope. Update only that entry in its verified scope, preserving other MCP settings. If the old name is dlmbs-ip, inspect it before changing it. Never delete the entire configuration file.
claude mcp get dlmbs-apiThe following remove-and-add example applies only after confirming dlmbs-api is user-scoped. Update other scopes at their actual source.
claude mcp remove --scope user dlmbs-api
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user dlmbs-api https://api.dlbs.liberal.ntu.edu.tw/mcpClaude Code Desktop: Code → Local (not yet tested)
This procedure follows official documentation; this Desktop case has not been tested. It applies to a local project session in the Code tab, not the Connectors flow in ordinary Chat.
- Create or edit .mcp.json in the intended project root. Merge only mcpServers.dlmbs-api into an existing file and retain other entries.
- Open the correct project and a new local session under Code → Local in Claude Desktop. Read and approve the project MCP configuration when prompted.
- Confirm dlmbs-api loads and connects, then run the prompt below once. Record the product version and error on failure; do not retry.
{
"mcpServers": {
"dlmbs-api": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://api.dlbs.liberal.ntu.edu.tw/mcp"
}
}
}CLI user settings and project .mcp.json are different sources. Check the effective scope and URL rather than adding duplicates for a single trial.
ChatGPT web: create, connect, then try
- In ChatGPT Plugins, add a custom MCP server. Use DLMBS MCP as its name.
- Enter the HTTPS domain below; do not switch to http://.
- Select No authentication.
- Read the risk warning, then create the plugin.
- Read the connection screen’s explanation of related conversation/memory sharing and decide whether to consent.
- After connecting, select “在對話中試用” (try in a conversation) from DLMBS MCP.
- Keep the plugin selected, paste the prompt below and send it once.
- Check the actual tool execution, result and requestId, not merely the model’s claim.
Consent only after reading the displayed sharing scope. This page does not connect, approve sharing or search on your behalf. Interface wording can vary by account and version.
Use only DLMBS MCP’s search_bibliography to search for 「禪宗」.
Set locale=zh-Hant, field=TOPIC, page=1, pageSize=1.
Call it once; do not retry or use other tools.
Report the actual total, first record, source link and requestId.
Report any tool failure accurately.Make your first search: 禪宗
Paste this into Claude Code’s AI conversation input, not the terminal shell or the library website search box:
Use dlmbs-api’s search_bibliography to search for 「禪宗」.
Set locale=zh-Hant, field=TOPIC, page=1, pageSize=1.
Call it once; do not retry on failure. Report the actual result and requestId.How to check success
- Look for an actual MCP tool call and response, rather than only an AI message saying “done”.
- Check returned conditions, total and titles. The total is not the number shown on this page; live data can change.
- For initial acceptance, search once. Later, if you independently need another page, explicitly request page 2 with the same conditions and check its page number.
- Copy or open the returned resultsUrl yourself. Sharing it reproduces the conditions through a new search, not a frozen snapshot.
MCP returns results inside your AI tool without first opening the library website. It does not update an already-open website automatically. For shared in-page operation, see the separate WebMCP guide. WebMCP webpage guide
Which public records can you search?
- search_bibliography: bibliography
- search_bibliography_advanced: advanced bibliography
- search_authors: authors
- search_journals: journals
Use the tools and parameters actually listed by your connection. This read-only service does not modify records, send mail or provide bulk full-text retrieval. Full-text availability does not guarantee a free download.
Acceptance record: one search only
On 2026-11-04, ChatGPT web connected through the new domain and displayed one successful bibliography result. Request, upstream and final response records were matched by the same requestId.

2,656 was the measured total at that time, not a fixed acceptance target. This case does not establish acceptance of other tools, locales or all accounts.
Troubleshooting and stopping the trial
Tool succeeded but the response says 「無法載入這則回覆」?
Reloading the whole conversation did not resolve this case. Selecting 「重新載入回覆」 (reload the existing response) displayed the existing result. 「重新產生回覆」 (regenerate) was not selected; the backend still recorded only one actual search.
Reloading a response retrieves existing content. Regenerating may execute tools again. Do not resend a search merely to fix its display.
HTTPS certificate and renewal
The new domain has a Let’s Encrypt certificate and passed normal chain and hostname validation. This issued certificate expires on 2027-02-02 13:09:30 Asia/Taipei. Caddy automatic management/renewal is configured; a future successful renewal has not yet been observed. Keep TLS verification enabled.
Supplement: old IP compatibility and investigation
The old IP endpoint is retained for compatibility: https://140.112.183.170/mcp
Use the HTTPS domain for primary setup. HTTP port 80 redirecting to HTTPS was not added. The earlier raw-IP ChatGPT connection failed; this new-domain case passed. Without OpenAI internal diagnostics, no specific proxy SAN bug or blanket lack of IP-URL support is established.
History: raw-IP connection failed on 2026-11-02; this new-domain case passed on 2026-11-04.
TLS or certificate error
Keep normal TLS certificate verification enabled. Stop the connection and check the URL, system time and certificate trust, then report the issue. Do not skip or disable verification.
Why does an anonymous endpoint ask me to sign in?
This test endpoint is intended to be anonymous and read-only. Do not enter library credentials. Stop and check the endpoint and error if unexpected authorization is requested. Your AI product’s own sign-in is separate.
Unavailable endpoint, timeout or busy service
The test URL and availability may change. Retry later or use the regular library search. A connection failure is not a zero-result search.
What if the search returns zero records?
Shorten keywords, relax date, language or type filters, or try an author or original title. Do not immediately conclude the library has no relevant records.
Can I cite an AI answer directly?
Open the source record and read the publication. Check authors, dates and source details. Metadata and AI interpretation are different; titles alone do not establish research conclusions.
Remove this test connection
For the CLI user setting, use the command below. For project configuration, remove only dlmbs-api from .mcp.json, keep other servers, and reopen the session.
claude mcp remove --scope user dlmbs-apiAn anonymous endpoint does not mean your AI product does not retain conversations. Search terms reach the library; model handling of questions and results follows your product’s policies. Avoid personal data, credentials and unpublished research.
