| 摘要 | 本論文就著佛門規範的首要戒律———「不殺生」，討論一些弔詭或兩難的範例。許多生命倫理與環境倫理的議題，都不可避免地圍繞著「堅持不殺生，卻難免於殺生」的兩難處境；有的兩難命題，則在哲學層次上構成悖論。例如：「堅持不殺，竟然弔詭地帶來生靈塗炭的嚴重後果；為了避免此一後果，就得放棄不殺戒。」在以「護生」為核心價值的佛教倫理學，這些（哲學意義上的）悖論或（現實情境中的）兩難，委實值得深思。在本文中，將分別就動物、植物與微生物，乃至國際社會所面對的殘酷戰爭，舉例分析「不殺生戒」在現實情境的一些兩難困境，必要時將分析其中部分範例在哲學層次的弔詭命題。其次從「緣起、護生、中道」之核心理論進行探討：在理論層次如何解析「不殺」的悖論命題？在實踐層次如何面對「不殺」的道德兩難？本文的重點放在後者，也就是說，從佛教應用倫理學的觀點，持守「不殺生戒」者如何面對兩難情境，來作出相對妥善的倫理抉擇。 This thesis discusses examples of paradoxes or dilemmas with regard to the primary precept of the Buddhist norms: non-killing. Many issues concerning bioethics and environmental ethics inevitably revolve around the dilemma of "persisting not to kill, but inevitably results in killing". Some dilemmas even beget paradoxes at the philosophical level; for example, abstention from killing has paradoxically brought about serious consequences of slaughtering. Therefore, in order to avoid such consequences, one has to compromise the precept of non-killing. Although "protecting life" is at the core of the Buddhist ethics, in practice, it causes dilemmas or philosophical paradoxes worth pondering. In this work, examples will be given to analyze the dilemmas of "abstention from killing" in real-life situations with regard to animals, plants, microorganisms, and even cruel wars faced by some countries around the world. If necessary, the paradoxical propositions of some of these examples will be analyzed at the philosophical level. Secondly, the core theories of "dependent origination, life protection and the middle path" will be explored. Topics like how to analyze the paradoxical proposition of non-killing at the theoretical level? How to face the moral dilemma of non-killing at the practical level? The focus of this thesis is on the latter, to wit, from the perspective of Buddhist applied ethics, how do those who abide by the precept of non-killing face dilemmas and make relatively appropriate ethical choices? |
