| 摘要 | This article describes two sketches and three pages of Sanskrit notes kept in the Musée Guimet’s Hodgson Collection. The titles of the sketches suggest that these are of a temple to the west of Swayambhu mahacaitya, Kathmandu, currently under Bhutanese management and known as Dongag Choling. A description of the sketches and a translation of the attached notes attached to sketch no32 are provided here based on photographs shared by the Guimet during the COVID-19 lockdown. Even prior to the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, after which the temple was completely reconstructed, the wall paintings suggested by the sketches were no longer extant. The sketches are compared with an 1885 sketch by Oldfield and with the current structure to understand how the temple has evolved structurally. The comparison with Oldfield’s sketch suggests that this identification of the temple is correct and that a reconstruction following the 1907 fire led to significant changes, not only to the overall structure, but to the interior decoration. It cannot be ascertained, based on the scanned images of the sketches, whether or not the temple was under Bhutanese control at the time these were drawn, thus referral to the full set of original sketches is still required. Cet article décrit deux esquisses et trois pages de notes sanskrites conservées dans la collection Hodgson du musée Guimet. Les titres des croquis suggèrent qu'il s'agit d'un temple situé à l'ouest du mahacaitya de Swayambhu (Kathmandou), actuellement sous gestion bhoutanaise et connu sous le nom de Dongag Choling. Une description des croquis et une traduction des notes jointes sont fournies ici, grâce à des photographies partagées par le musée Guimet lors de la fermeture liée au COVID-19. Même avant le tremblement de terre de Gorkha en 2015, à la suite duquel le temple a été entièrement reconstruit, les peintures murales dont il est question dans les croquis n'existaient plus. Dans cet article, les croquis sont comparés à une esquisse de 1885, réalisée par Oldfield, et à la structure actuelle, afin de comprendre l'évolution structurelle du temple. La comparaison avec l'esquisse d'Oldfield suggère que l'identification du temple est correcte et qu'une reconstruction suite à l'incendie de 1907 a entraîné des changements significatifs, non seulement au niveau de la structure générale, mais aussi au niveau de la décoration intérieure. Les images scannées des croquis ne permettent pas de savoir si le temple était ou non sous contrôle bhoutanais à l'époque où ils ont été dessinés, il est donc nécessaire de se référer à l'ensemble des croquis originaux. |
