| 摘要 | In his teachings on the importance of ethics in the workplace, the Dalai Lama emphasizes compassion, individuals' ability to solve problems, an appreciation of our interdependency, and the need to seek choices and actively resist injustice. This study draws on a virtue ethics framework to explore the challenges and opportunities individuals experience in integrating the teachings of the Dalai Lama in the workplace. We interviewed attendees at a public talk given by the Dalai Lama and found that many felt a tension between their sense of ethics, and the needs and goals of the organization. Therefore, several felt that there was an important role for organizational support of personal ethics, along with workplace codes of ethics. Our study suggests that both individuals and the workplace have important responsibilities. Organizations should encourage individuals to draw from their personal codes of ethics, which should be complemented with broader organizational ethical frameworks. |
