| 摘要 | Amid the pandemic taking the entire world by storm, the year 2021 marked a new beginning for the LGBT community of Bhutan, at least legally. On 17 th February, 2021, the tiny Himalayan kingdom became the latest Asian country to decriminalize homosexuality by making an amendment to section 213 of the Bhutan Penal Code. However, beside having a law that supports the community, the society, its knowledge and acceptance of the community is still in a very infant stage and there is a long journey ahead for the community. Hence, this paper will evaluate in detail about the scenario of the LGBT community in one of the happiest countries of the world. The issues, support from the government and the society for the LGBT community and a special reference to the religion- Buddhism shall also be made in this paper. |
