| 摘要 | The Nako's temples complex as a whole is traditionally and locally known as the Lo.tsa'.ba'i Lha.khang. In the present preliminary report on the gTsug.lag.khang of Nako — the second part of a study on Nako published in 1998 — mainly the iconographic themes and the artistic styles have been analysed. In Western Himalaya the life and the works of Rin.chen.bzang.po still enjoy a huge popularity, and the actual history is interwoven by legend, to such an extent that almost every site claims to have a whatsoever connection with the 'Great Translator'. Therefore, in absence of reliable historical sources regarding Nako, here a methodology based on comparative stylistic studies has been followed. For example the prototypes of the temple lay-out have been traced in the buddhist architecture of India, and, whenever possible, the temple has been compared to other ancient sites in the region. The reproduction and the elaboration of indian patterns characterized all the first phase of Second Diffusion of Buddhism, and led to the formulation of an Indo-Tibetan style, associating all the temples founded in mNga'.ris during the X-XIII centuries. The iconographic language of that period expressing the centrality of the cult of Sarvavid Vairocana and Prajñāpāramitā, both sculptured in painted clay inside the temple, highlightes the foremost topics of the Rin.chen.bzang.po researches and meditations. |
