| 摘要 | 본 논문의 목적은 백수 정완영(白水 鄭椀永, 1919～2016, 이하 백수) 의 시조 문학에 나타난 고향의식과 불교적 사유 기반의 생명존중의 의미 와 그것이 오늘날 우리에게 던져주는 메시지가 무엇인지를 살펴보는 데 있다. 백수는 이병기, 이은상, 김상옥, 이호우, 이영도와 함께 1960년대 대표적인 시조시인이다. 그는 말과 말의 행간에 침묵을 더 많이 심어두면 서 단아하고 잘 정제된 시상과 한국의 정한의 주제와 자유로운 율격을 담아냄으로써 현대시조의 기틀을 마련하였다. 이러한 백수의 문학적 사유 와 토양을 깊게 해 준 배경에는 고향상실과 민족전통을 관류하는 정한(情 恨)의 미학이 자리하고 있다. 그렇기에 그의 시조 문학 작품에는 전통적 인 한국적 정서를 바탕으로 관조의 미학을 탐구하면서, 상실한 조국과 고 향의 회복, 연기적 생명 존재에 대한 사랑의 뜨거운 시혼이 잘 담지되어 있다. 결국 백수가 그토록 끊임없이 또 간절하게 고향과 불연(佛緣)을 노 래한 것은 역사관과 인생관을 매개로 한 자기정체성의 확인이라 할 수 있다. The purpose of this paper is to examine the poetic world of contemporary sijo (traditional Korean poetry) of Jeong Wanyeong(1919～ 2016, Pen name: Baeksu (白水)) and what message it delivers to us today, focusing on the loss of hometown and its recovery, and the interdependent web of life based on Buddhist thought. Actually, Baeksu was a chief sijo-poet together with Lee Byeongi, Lee Eunsang, Kim Sangock, Lee Howu and Lee Yeongdo, etc. in the 1960s. He paved the path for the contemporary sijo's development with a graceful, well-refined poetic imagination, Korean deep resentment, and free metrical device. The main background of his literary thinking and soil is the loss of hometown and deep resentment flowing through national tradition. The characteristic of Baeksu's poetic world is the consciousness of the loss of hometown and its recovery, and also the interdependent web of life based on Buddhist thought, Avatamsaka(華嚴). Hence, in his many poems, are there many introspections of harmonization in simple and condensed poetic images and dictions with a high metaphor and symbol. In addition, he suggests which way we should go today. In particular, originated and deepened in the course of life, Baeksu's sijo-poems include dharma-fragrance to let attachment go and the fullness in emptiness, and they also let us recognize the web of life based on the interdependence. In brief, reciting and appreciating Baeksu's simple and garbled poems which confirms self-identity can be a way to calm down our bubbly mind and can be a mechanism to enjoy empty-mind with high metaphors and folkway dictions. |
