| 摘要 | 코로나19 팬데믹을 경험하면서 우리사회는 ‘돌봄’의 중요성과 필요성을 확인하였다. 이에 ‘돌봄노동’은 ‘필수노동’으로 불리기 시작했지만, 돌봄은 여성-저임금-임시직 노동이라는 사회적 평가는 굳건하다. 이러한 상황임에도 오늘날 인류가 직면한 복합위기는 ‘돌봄’에 대한 새로운 전망을 요청하고 있다. 한국사회를 포함한 현생 인류가 처한 삶의 조건은 다양한 위기들이 중첩되어 악화하고 있다. 기후위기는 인류의 생존을 위협하고 있으며, 경제위기는 오랜 기간 지속되어 불평등은 더욱 견고해지고 있다. 물질적 성장은 사회구성원 대다수의 삶의 질을 더는 개선하지 못한다. 복합위기는 ‘연대’와 ‘공존’, ‘상생’의 필요성을 높이고 있지만, 사회적 갈등은 더욱 첨예화되고 있으며 상대를 향한 혐오와 폭력도 일상화되고 있다. 이러한 위기 상황에서 돌봄의 필요성은 더욱 커지고 있으며 요청되는 돌봄의 내용은 이전의 돌봄과는 다르다. 신체적‧정신적 건강, 혹은 생활의 편리를 위한 돌봄에 국한되지 않는다. 복합위기는 우리에게 위기 극복을 위해 현실의 한계를 뛰어넘는 상상력이 필요하다고 말하고 있다. 이러한 상상력을 ‘오래된 미래’라고 불리는 불교에서 얻을 수 있다. 본 연구는 불교의 사유에 근거하여 돌봄을 새롭게 전망한다. 지금의 돌봄이 서구의 자유주의적 세계관에 의해 정당화되는 자율적이고 독립된 인간관에 기초하여 있다면, 복합위기 시기에는 상호연결성과 상호의존성을 전제한 불교의 인간관에 기초한 돌봄이 요청된다. 본 논문은 이러한 돌봄을 연기적 사유와 생태적 가치를 지향하며 모든 관계에 적용되는 생태적 돌봄으로 전망한다. The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic has confirmed the importance and necessity of "care" within our society. As a result, ‘care work’ has begun to be referred to as ‘essential labor.’ However, care work is still socially stereotyped as female, low-wage, temporary labor. Despite this, today’s complex crisis calls for a new outlook on care. The existential conditions of present humanity, including Korean society, are deteriorating due to the overlapping of various crises. The climate crisis threatens human survival, the economic crisis is prolonged, and inequality is becoming more entrenched. Material growth is no longer improving the quality of life for the majority of people in society. The ploycrises has increased the need for solidarity, coexistence, and mutual benefit, but social conflicts are becoming more acute, and hatred and violence towards others are becoming commonplace. In these times of crisis, the need for care is even more greater, and the care that is being requested is different from the care before. Care needs are not limited to physical and mental health or making life easier. The complexity of the crisis tells us that we need an imagination that goes beyond the limits of reality to overcome the crisis. This imagination can be found in Buddhism, in what is called the ‘ancient futures’. This study offers a new perspective on care based on Buddhist thinking. If current care is based on an autonomous and independent view of human beings, justified by the Western liberal worldview, then care based on the Buddhist view of human beings, which presupposes interconnectedness and interdependence, is called for in times of complex crisis. In other words, this care is ecological care, oriented to dependent origination and ecological values and applies to all relationships. |
