| 摘要 | Les biographies traditionnelles du Buddha affirment que ce dernier serait passé par quatre degrés de contemplation (dhyāna) avant d’acquérir la triple science au moment de son éveil puis, plus tard, lors de son entrée dans l’extinction complète (parinirvāṇa). Pourtant, le terme dhyāna n’est guère attesté ni dans les quatre nobles vérités, ni dans l’octuple sentier, ni même dans la loi de production conditionnée, éléments de doctrine communs aux écoles bouddhiques anciennes. La présente contribution expose quelques éléments de réflexion sur la construction de la figure du « Buddha méditant » pour laquelle les hagiographes bouddhistes reprirent le prototype du ṛṣi antique de la tradition ṛgvédique, qui, par la capacité de sa pensée réflexive eut, le premier, la vision de l’ordre cosmique (ṛta). The traditional biographies of the Buddha state that he passed through four states of contemplation (dhyāna), before attaining the three knowledges at the moment of his awakening, and then again, later, when he attained parinirvāṇa. However, there was never any use of the term “dhyāna”, whether it be in the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, or even in Conditioned Arising, doctrinal elements common to ancient Buddhist schools. The work presented here offers some reflections on the development of the “meditating Buddha” figure, for which Buddhist hagiographers drew on the prototype of the ancient ṛṣi of the Ṛgvedic tradition, who, through his capacity for deep reflection, was the first to have had a vision of the cosmic order (ṛta). |
