| 摘要 | Written from the Jodo shinshu tradition founded by Shinram (1173–1262) perspective, this article offers insights into Buddhist memorial observances. Memorial services are critical to the grieving process upon the death of a loved one. For the Japanese American Buddhist community in Hawai'i and in North America, these services ritualize the sentiments of reverence, appreciation, and respect for elders. |
