| 摘要 | 대승보살도에서 본다면 보살은 하화중생 없이는 상구보리의 성불에 이를 수 없다. 그런데 한국불교(조계종 중심의 한국 선불교)는 대승불교를 표방하면서도 하화중생은 뒷전으로 제쳐두고 오직 상구보리의 성불에만 정신을 쏟고 있는 듯하다. 그 결과 한국불교가 대중들과 유리되어산중불교, 수행불교의 한계를 못 벗어나고 있다. 그렇다면 한국불교의 주류인 출가승들이 보살도를 실천하자면 어떻게 해야 하는가? 본고에서는 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로, 한국불교 스님들의 당면과 제가 깨달음과 닦음의 문제가 아니라 보살도의 실천이라고 보았다. 그것은 곧 깨달음의 사회적인 확산, 효율적인 하화중생의 시행이 될 것이다. 보살승이 되자면 하화중생 이전에 선오후수에 의거한 깨달음[상구보리]이 필요한데, 여기에 들이는 시간은 수계이후 최대한 6년을 넘기지말아야 할 것이다. 그래야만 스님들이 석가모니의 제자자격을 유지할 수 있다. 이후 하화중생을 통하여 한국사회의 현안문제, 특히 고통을 야기하는 제반문제 해결에 한국불교가 의미 있는 기여를 할 수 있어야 한다고 본다. 이렇게 하기 위해서는 기존의 낡은 시스템을 과감히 버리고 새로운 시스템을 도입하지 않으면 안 된다. 이에 보살도 실천을 위한 시스템의 대강을 구상하여 제시하였다. 앞으로 한국불교가 통일한국 시대를 맞이하게 되면 해야 할 일이 많을 것이다. 무엇을 어떻게 할 것인가? 여기서 스님들은 삼국통일기(540～676) 신라의 원효와 최근세 인물인 백용성 스님의 행적에 주목할 필요가 있다고 보았다. 특히 이들의 하화중생의 정신을 철저하게 본받아서 그 정신으로 무장하고 그 정신을 실천하는 것이 중요하다. 이것이야말로 한국불교가 지금의 침체기를 벗어나서 재도약할 수 있는 유일한 길이라고 보았다. At the point of the way of Mahayana bodhisattva, bodhisattva can``t become a buddha without saving all sentient beings. And yet korean Zen buddhism which belongs to Mahayana buddhism only seems to be concerned with the attaining spritual enlightment but is unconcerned with saving all sentient beings. As the result, korean Zen buddhism is separated with popular, can``t escape from the limits of Mt. buddhism and the buddhism for training. So then the monks who are belong to the main current of korean buddhism, what method do they have to practice the way of Mahayana bodhisattva? In this article, at the view point of these critical minds, the author thought that korean monks have the practicing problem of the way of Mahayana bodhisattva as an urgent question, not the problem about becoming a Buddha or trining method. If I explain it with another words, it will be the social spreading of spritual enlightment which is equal to practice of saving all sentient beings. The monk of bodhisattva needs qualifications for the attaining spritual enlightment before the saving all sentient beings. For this attaining spritual enlightment, he must finish his homework as the attaining spritual enlightment within 6 years. If he can do this homework, he can maintain Buddha``s discipleship. And then korean buddhism must offer an important service for solving painful problems of present korean society by saving all sentient beings. If we want to do these duties, we must introduce a new system, at the same time we must give up an old system. So I offered the system for practicing the way of Mahayana bodhisattva roughly. In the future, korean buddhism must do many affairs especially during the period of the unified korean ages. What kind of affairs must we do? How will we be able to solve many problems? Now and here, korean monks need to give attention to the behavior of ancient famious korean monk, WonHyo(元曉) and another famious korean monk of the modern period, BaekYongSung(白龍城). Especially, It is very important to practice their spirits of saving all sentient beings. I think that this effort is the only way to respring from the present state of stagnation in korean buddhism. |
