摘要
본 논문은 ‘『아함경』에 내재된 사회복지사상과 실천사례’에 대하여 이 론적으로 고찰한 글이다. 부처님의 言行錄이라고 할 수 있는 『아함경』 은인간적인체취를느낄수있을뿐만아니라, 우리의실생활가운데서 일어나는 크고 작은 괴로움에 대한 원인과 여기에 대한 해결 방법을 제 시하고 있는 중요한 경전이다. 오늘날 사회복지는 전 생애에 걸쳐서 행복하고, 안정되고 바람직한 삶을 추구하는 인간의 사회적 노력으로 모든 사람들의 삶의 질을 향상 시키는것에그가치를두고있다. 이러한측면에서볼때본논문에서 고찰한 『아함경』의 실천사례 등은 일체중생에게 즐거움[樂]을 주고 괴 로움[苦]을 없애주는 불교의 자비사상과 직결된다. 또한 자리이타의 정 신과 보시사상에 입각한 『아함경』의 실천 행은 사회복지의 가치와 일치 한다고 할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 사회복지실천(socil work practice)이란 사 람의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 문제가 시급한 개인, 가족 ,노인, 의료가 필요 한환자, 수형자등의소집단또는지역사회의문제및욕구에사회적 안녕상태를 이룰 수 있도록 권한부여.문제해결 등의 접근방법으로 개 입하는 과학적이고, 종합적인 전문적인 활동이기 때문이다. 따라서 이글 에서 살펴본 ‘『아함경』에 내재된 사회복지사상과 실천사례’는 불교가 志 向하는 上求菩提 下化衆生 즉 苦海에서 헤매는 일체중생을 교화하기 위한 하나의 방편이라는 것을 알 수 있다.
This thesis theoretically examines ‘the concept of social-welfare in āgama and its practical cases’. Agama, the chronicle of Buddha’s sayings and doings, hints at Buddha’s humane qualities. It is also an important scripture that deals with all kinds of trivial and significant human distress that arise in daily life and seeks to find wasy to resolve them. The social welfare of today is a social effort to ensure happy, secure, and desirable life throughout a human’s life, and it seeks to improve the quality of life of everyone in the society. In this sense, the ideas of Buddhism, Maitri-Karuna, ‘giving happiness and removing agony for all creatures’ and Jari-ita, ‘the perfecting of self for perfecting others’, and practical side of āgama that is based on dāna correspond with the concept of social welfare. It is because social work practice is a scientific, comprehensive, and specialized activity for better quality of life. Through the grant of authority, it pursues the peaceful state of individuals and community by providing cares to diverse social groups who need to improve their quality of life such as individuals, families, senior citizens, patients who need medical care, prisoners, and by handling the problems and needs within the community. Therefore, ‘the concept of social-welfare in āgama and its practical cases’ is a way (upāya) for the sake of Sanggubori Hahwa Jungsaeng, ‘the sacred duty of a Bodhisattva, which is to edify all creatures (sarva sattva), who suffer in the bitter sea of pain and the problems of life and death.
