| 摘要 | 한국 시민사회는 21세기 들어 다양한 위기 징후를 드러내고 있다. 압축성장에 따른 정신적 위기 현상과 분단구조에 따른 불안의 일상화와 비정상적인 가치관 구조 정착 등이 그 대표적인 사례들이다. 이런 상황 속에서 불교와 그리스도교로 대표되는 제도종교는 급속도로 세속화와 개인화 과정을 겪으면서 시민들의 종교적인 것에 대한 열망을 제대로 담아내지 못하고 있다. 한국 시민사회에서 불교는 전통에 기반한 제도종교로서 자본주의적 질서를 기반으로 하는 시민사회에서 새로운 위상과 역할을 모색하는 과정에서 혼란을 거듭하고 있다. 한국불교가 보살을 중심으로 하는 사부대중공동체를 지향하고, 승가공동체는 그 공동체와 함께 시민사회 자체와의 적극적인 만남을 시도해야 한다는 점에서 실천적인 난관은 피할 수 없는 지점이다. 이 난관을 극복하는 과정에서 출가보살은 승가공동체가 시민사회에서도 전통적인 형태를 유지하면서 존속 가능한지에 관한 근원적인 물음에서 출발하여 현실을 직시할 수 있는 여실지견(如實知見)의 지혜를 보여줄 수 있고, 그것을 바탕으로 삶의 의미 물음에 관한 답을 찾는 과정에서 개방적인 상담자로서의 역할을 해줄 수 있으며, 더 나아가 한국사회의 미래에 관한 실천적 지혜를 제공하는 정신적 지도자로서의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Korean civil society has shown many signs of crisis. Typically, they include various phenomena exposing the crisis of human mentality; the anxiety from division structure that has become part of our lives; and the pervasion of an abnormal value system. In this situation, institutionalized religions, represented by Buddhism and Christianity, have gone through secularization and individualization at a rapid speed, and failed to respond to the religious desires in the members of this society. In the Korean civil society, Buddhism is an institutionalized religion that is rooted in the nation`s tradition and in the process of establishing its status and role in the present civil society under the capitalist order, it continues to experience confusion. In the aspect that the Korean Buddhism should aim at the Sabudaejung(fourfold) Community with Bodhisattvas in its center, and that the Sangha Community should actively seek opportunities to meet and exchange with the civil society, it cannot avoid face practical difficulties. In the course of overcoming these difficulties, leaving home-bodhisattvas are expected to show the wisdom that leads us to face up to the reality, starting from the fundamental question on whether the Sangha Community can continue to exist in the civil society while maintaining its traditional organization. And with this wisdom, they will also act as open-minded counselors in our searching for the meaning of life, and further, serve as our spiritual leaders who provide a practical wisdom for the future of the Korean society. |
