The purpose of this study is to investigate the origin and formation process of the Pasa Stone Pagoda. In Samgukyusa, the origin of the Pasa stone Pagoda is told in detail. However, it only refers to the fact that the Pasa Stone Pagoda has been located at Homey Temple at the time of the compilation of the Samgukyusa, and does not provide any information about the history of the Pasa stone Pagoda between A.D.48 and A.D.452. It is only in the area of presumption where Pasa Stone Pagoda was kept before being taken to the Hogye Temple after princess Heo Hwangok had arrived in Garak Kingdom. There is no evidence that Pasa Stone Pagoda was originally a Buddhist stupa. The most concrete evidence that Pasa Stone Pagoda is a Buddhist stupa is a hole made in the body of the stupa for reserving relic cascet, but it is highly likely that the hole of Pasa Stone Pagoda was created after the compilation of the Samguk Yusa. Judging from the appearance of the Pasa stone pagoda located near the tomb of Queen Heo, among the later construction of Hindu temples from the 6th century onwards, The closest one is the marine temple of Mahabalipuram in South India. However, there is an important difference between the two: the stone of the marine temple is granite, while that of Pasa Stone Pagoda is carbonate breccia. The origin of Pasa Stone Pagoda is related to the hometown of Heo Hwangok. In this point, Professor Kim Byung-mo’s theory that Princess Heo of Ayodhya Kingdom came to Garak Kingdom via Baozhou (Anyue) of Sichuan Province, China, needs attention. From the fact that we can find out the name of Heo Hwangok at the Record of Divine Well inscribed on the rock located in Baozhou, Pasa stone Pagoda is likely to come from Baozhou. Taking into account the time of the formation of the multi-story pagoda in China, it is impossible to find the origin of the Pasa stone pagoda in ancient Chinese architectural style. However, it is not possible to exclude the possibility that the stones of Pasa Stone Pagoda came to Garak Kingdom from Baozhou with Princess Heo. There are no examples of Buddhist Reliquaries such as that of Pasa stone pagoda in India in A.D.48, and therefore the relic cascet hole of Pasa stone pagoda was supposed to have been created in Korea after compilation of the Samgukyusa. If the relic cascet hole of Pasa stone pagoda has been made in Korea, it is likely that the date of its formation is after the beginning of the 7th century.
