| 摘要 | 본 논고는 최근의 한국불교 인구가 크게 감소하고 있다는 심각성을 인식하며, 사부대중 모두가 ‘현장에서의 행동하는 포교’를 실천하는 것이 시급하다는 인식에서 시작하였다. 불교의 교주인 서가모니 붓다는 길에서 45년을 전법교화 하였고, 한국의 고승 원효도 저잣거리에서 불법을 전하였다. 작금의 상황에서는 붓다와 그의 제자들, 그리고 원효가 민중 속에 몸을 던지는 치열했던 가두포교를 현대에 그대로 실현하여야 한다. 이러한 때에, 사부대중 전체가 적극적 가두(거리)포교에 참여하고, 불교대학에서 살아있는 교육으로 불자들의 의식의 전환을 이끌어내어 ‘표본사찰’로 인정받고 있는 한국불교대학大관음사의 회주 無一우학의 전법교화의 방법을 현장을 통해 분석하고, 그 성공요인을 고찰함으로써 진취적으로 포교를 실천하려는 부루나들이 응용할 수 있기를 발원하였다. 이 사찰은 1992년에 창건하여 2018년 현재, 국내외 약 20여개의 도량과 신도 수 30만을 넘기며, 불자교육·병원·사회복지·각종봉사를 실천하는 사회참여와, 山海세계명상센터, NGO, 인터넷·스마트폰·앱등 SNS와 매스미디어의 적극적 활용으로 기록적인 급성장을 하였다. 이 성공요인은 첫째, 매해초 3개월을 신입생 모집의 기간으로 정해 사부대중이 ‘행동하는 포교[가두포교]’를 실천하여 불교 교육을 받을 동력을 만들어 낸 것이다. 둘째, 치열한 포교로 모집한 신입생들에게 관음신행의 신·해·행·증 교육과 붓다의 불성평등사상에 입각한 현대적 교육으로 ‘스스로 행동하는 불자들로 성장’시킨 것이다. 그 결과 求福에 머물던 관음신앙에서 이웃과 사회에 자비를 실천하는 作福을 함으로써 공덕을 쌓아가는 불자들로 성장하였다. 더 나아가, 無一은 이것을 他力의 관음信仰과 自力의 관음信行이 합해진 ‘自他合力의 圓融思想’이라고 말한다. 마지막으로, 창건주이자 리더로써의 無一이 온몸을 내던지는 불철주야의 헌신으로 도심현장에서의 포교와 교육을 이끌어 낸 것이다. 포교와 수행은 不二’라는 신념으로 매순간을 즐기면서 역동적으로 불사를 이루어 나갔다. 한편, 구도자로써의 집중수행을 위해 1년에 한번은 안거에 들어갔으며, ‘무문관천일청정수행’을 단행하기도 하였다. 또한 사찰과 모든 산하기관들을 대한 불교조계종 종단으로 등록함으로써 공심으로 운영하고 있다. 無一의 이러한 실천 보현행원은 상좌들과 신도대중들에게 모범이 되었고, 그것은 사부대중의 신뢰와 존경심으로 발현되어 사찰이 목표로 한 어떠한 일에도 모두가 화합하여 솔선수범함으로써 현재의 ‘표본사찰’로 발전하는 성공요인으로 작용하였다. This study started by the seriously realize to the decreasing of Buddhist population in Korea. Today, it is requested to all of the buddhist that they should do ‘Active Propagation on field’ instead the discourse. Buddha, who did a propagation on the road for 45years and his followers also did as him. Also, Wonhyo, who was extraordinary Seon master in Silla Dynasty, he was one of the great propagator to the general public on the street. This days, Muil-Woohak, who is the Seon master and propagator, he follows the teachings left by Buddha by the active propagation at the street. He is leading the 'Korea Buddhist University Great Avalokitesvara Temple' at downtown Daegu in S. Korea which started in 1992 as a small temple, and it is 25th anniversary in 2017, become one of the largest Buddhist University with that buddhist lay of three hundred thousand. The summary of success factors are as the following: First, it was focuses on the consciousness enlightenment of lay people by education that based on the practical faith of Avalokitesvara and the thought of the nature of Buddha equality. It brought self-awareness, which is also developed their potential own and became them to make an active practical life not only themselves but also to the neighborhood and society by wisdom and loving-kindness. Second, All of the educations are precondition for the active propagation. As a Budhha's disciple, Muil said that the Buddhist should be pay back to grace of Buddha as a 'propagation work to act'. Therefore, all of his disciples and lay people is doing active propagation on streets such as markets, climbing road on the mountains, parking lots, subways, apartments, and etc. Third, Mu-il, with his belief that practice and propagation are not two[不二, Booli,], and devoted to operating at the downtown temple. Besides, he enters the retreat for three months once a year for the concentrate of meditation, as well as he had for ‘one thousand-days meditation for movement of purify’ with only once meal in a day at the Gateless Gate. The accumulated energy of wisdom by the meditation is used the propagation to make a “Fundamental Buddhism, Advanced Buddhism, World Buddhism”. |
