| 摘要 | 『유가사지론』에서 가장 이른 시기에 편집된 것으로 간주되는 챕터 중 하나인 『보살지』에서 가장 철학적인 소챕터로 여겨지는 「진실의품」은 인도불교 연구자들에게 특히 3성설의 전단계로 간주되어 종종 연구되어 왔으나 본격적인 연구는 이제 시작이라고 할 수 있다. 본고는 「진실의품」의 제명이자 해당 소챕터를 조직하는 핵심개념인 tattvārtha에 초점을 두고 연구를 진행시킬 것이다. 2장에서는 선행연구자들에게 이 개념이 적확히 포착되지 않았음을 지적하여 시론적 연구의 필요성 및 정당성을 주장한다. 3장에서는 해당 복합어의 풀이 자체가 소홀했던 점을 지적하며 주석 문헌 등을 활용해 전면적인 문법적 분석을 시도한다. 4장에서는 이 개념이 적어도 불교도들에게는 생소했다는 점을 지적하며 선행연구 등에 입각해 인도철학사적 맥락의 재구성을 시도한다. 5장에서는 이상의 작업에 근거해 「진실의품」을 독해하여 초기유가행파의 진리 개념의 일면을 노정한다. 6장에서는 인도철학사 전체에서 「진실의품」이 점하는 위상 및 그 특이성을 지적하며 논의를 마친다. My purpose here is to provide a grammatical analysis of the term tattvārtha and to show the semantic picture and historical background of truth(tattva) in Tattvārtha Chapter in Bodhisattvabhūmi. That is, I want to explicate what early Yogācārins meant by the expression tattva. Tattva, which could be identified with tattvārtha in the text, holds a central position in in the structure of the text, but it hasn’t been given a due attention partly because of the presence of the concept ‘a thing(vastu)’ in the same text. But tattva is also worthy of note for using a new term itself is a conceptual event that calls for a lengthy explanation, which is partly elucidated with its prehistory I’ve offered in this paper. And once we concentrate on the semantic question about it, we can catch the complexities it has, which again help us to deepen our understanding on the text and its context. |
