| 摘要 | At the turn of the 13th century, Sönam Gyaltsen (bsod nams rgyal mtshan), known as Godrakpa, or the ‘Hermit of Go Cliffs’, wandered through the mountains of central Tibet singing mgur or ‘songs of spiritual realization’. Developed during the ‘later transmission’ of Buddhism from India to Tibet (950-1250 C.E.), the mgur genre is inspired by the songs of the Indian siddhas and is characterized by personal, emotional and sincere descriptions of the Buddhist path. This study focuses on the small collection of mgur by Godrakpa to explore how his autobiographical voice links his spiritual quest and teachings to the Tibetan landscape. His songs do more, however, than simply import the teachings of Indian tantra to Tibet; by sharing his ‘inner world’–the observations and emotions surrounding the realizations of high Buddhist tantra–Godrakpa also creates a human, ‘mundane’ side to these transcendent and remarkable spiritual truths. The autobiographical content therefore holds an important role: it both reveals the spiritual realizations that one can achieve with diligent, though difficult, practice, and also grounds such realizations in the Tibetan landscape, thereby shaping a Tibetan Buddhist identity from Indian tantric teachings. |
