| 摘要 | 본 논문은 『오대진언(五大眞言』)의 간행 배경과 다라니 신앙의 의미를 검토했다. 『오대진언』과 「영험약초(靈驗略抄)」는 상관관계를 갖고 구성되었다. 따라서 『오대진언』에 수록된 「영험약초」의 구성과 내용을 검토하여, 이 다라니들을 통해 얻고자 했던 공덕의 성격을 검토했다. 더불어 『오대진언』 간행의 의미를 다라니 신앙 양상의 측면에서 해석했다. 『영험약초』는 대비심다라니(大悲心陀羅尼), 수구즉득다라니(隨求卽得陀羅尼), 대불정다라니(大佛頂陀羅尼), 불정존승다라니(佛頂尊勝陀羅尼)의 소의 경전에서 영험의 사례와 영험을 얻을 수 있는 방법을 발췌하여 구성하였다. 발췌한 내용을 검토한 결과 공통적으로 기원한 다라니의 공덕은 ‘죄의 소멸 그리고 악도 및 지옥에서의 구제’였다. 그리고 그 공덕을 얻을 수 있는 공통된 방법은 다라니의 지송(持誦)인데, 공덕의 대상자가 아닌 타인의 신앙행을 통해서라도 다라니의 공덕이 성취될 수 있다는 점을 강조하였다. 『오대진언』에 수록된 다라니들은 고대부터 조선까지 다라니 신앙의 측면에서 영향력을 갖고 신앙 되었다. 특히 고려 후기부터는 이 다라니들을 공통된 범주로 인식하게 되었다. 이러한 인식은 외부적으로는 요나라 불교계 동향과 연동하여 이루어졌다고 파악된다. 한편 『오대진언』은 다라니의 발음을 적확하게 구현하고, 더 많은 계층과의 다라니 신앙 공유를 위하여 범어, 한자뿐만 아니라 한글로도 다라니의 발음을 표기하였다. 『오대진언』은 고대부터 이어진 다라니 신앙의 전통과 주변국과의 교섭을 배경으로 간행되었다는 측면에서 다라니 신앙의 보편성을 상징한다. 나아가 다라니 독송을 위한 한글 음사 표기를 통해 다라니 신앙의 독자성을 보여주었다. This paper reviewed the background of Five Great Mantras(Odae chinŏn 五大眞言) publication and the meaning of the Darani faith. The composition of the Five Great Mantras and Yeongheomyakcho(靈驗略抄) is interconnected. Therefore, the character of divine effect, which was believed to be obtained through Dharani by analyzing the Yeongheomyakcho, was reviewed. In addition, the meaning of the publication of Five Great Mantras was interpreted in terms of dharani faith. Yeongheomyakcho consists of excerpts from the each scriptures that preaches dharani and how to obtain divine effect. As a result of reviewing the excerpts, dharani's common wishes were annihilation of sins and hell-breaking. The common way to gain divine effect is to recite dharani. It was emphasized that merit can be achieved through the act of faith of others other than those who are not subject to merit. The Darani in Five Great Mantras were believed to have a great influence from ancient times to Joseon Dynasty. In particular, from the late Goryeo Dynasty, these Darani were recognized as a common category. It is understood that this perception was made externally in conjunction with the trends of the Buddhist community of the Liao Dynasty. Meanwhile, in order to realize the correct pronunciation of Darani and to share the darani faith with more classes, Five Great Mantras marked Darani's pronunciation in Korean as well as Sanskrit words and Chinese characters. Five Great Mantras represents the universality of the dharani faith in that it was published through the tradition of the dharani faith from ancient times and through relations with neighboring countries. Furthermore, it showed the uniqueness of the dharani faith through the Korean notation for reciting dharani. |
