| 摘要 | 김정희 같은 제주도 유배인의 경우는 제주도 지식인들에게 학문을 전수하여 많은 제주인 제자를 두었다. 구한말 김윤식도 제주 유림의 유학자들과 귤원 시회 등으로 만남을 가지고 있었다. 유배인들은 제주도에서 제주인들의 학문적 열망을 해소해주는 역할을 일정 부분 담당하고 있었다고 보이며, 이들과 교류한 제주 유림은 사상적으로도 스승의 영향을 받는 모습을 보인다. 본고는 유배인들의 불교적 성향의 영향을 받은 제주인의 불교적 활동 모습을 살펴보았다. 제주 유림의 인물 중에서는 이한진을 비롯하여 김석윤, 홍종시, 최원순 등이 제주불교 활동에 참여하였다. 또한 석가탄신일을 기념하는 서당의 모습도 볼 수 있는데 이러한 불교적 활동은 근대 제주불교가 활동하는 데에 힘이 되었던 측면이 있었다고 생각한다. Some Jeju confucian scholars show buddhistic dispositions. Buddhistic dispositions of Jeju confucian scholars are estimated to be influenced by deportees such as Kim Jeong-hee. His disciple, Lee Han-jin, wrote pieces of work with buddhistic tastes. Some confucian scholar members including Kim Yun-sik in the Gyulwon poetry club participated in Jeju Buddhism Association activities. Not only were Buddhist scriptures taught in the confucian library, but also lotus-shaped lantern festivals were held at Seodang(village school) to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday. The buddhistic disposition of Jeju confucian scholars contributed to promoting Jeju modern buddhist activities. |
