| 摘要 | Management is essential everywhere. The functions of management consist of planning, implementation and evaluation. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors affecting management practices of Theravāda Buddhist monasteries of Nepal. The study is conducted in the Rupandehi, Kapilavastu and Palpa district of Lumbini Province (previously Lumbini zone) of Nepal. Monks, Anagarikas and Buddhist experts are the respondents of this study. The factors affecting management practices of monasteries of Theravāda Buddhist monasteries are internal factors it can be concluded that internal as well as external factors affect management of the Theravāda Buddhist monasteries of Nepal.The main internal factors influencing the management of the monastery are the resources, leadership style, number of lay-devotees and the economic and social activities of the monastery whereas the main external factors influencing the management of the monastery are the changing technology and the social and cultural conditions of the country.The Monastery management can be made effective through increasing material resources, emphasis on planning and its implementation, proper regulation by Akhil Nepal Bhikshu Mahasangha (ANBM), increasing economic as well as social activities, ways to increase lay devotees. Most of the respondents have expressed the view that the main way to make the monastery management effective is to increase the number of lay devotees. |
