| 摘要 | This study examines Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse as a barrier to Buddhist views. His imaginary Siddhartha achieves nirvana by enjoying all of life's pleasures, which is the opposite of Buddhism, rather than by rejecting them. With the stunning courtesan Kamala, he enjoys sensory bliss. He benefits financially from the successful businessman Kamaswami. Similar to how disciples of Buddhism must slay their ego, there would be no Siddhartha of any type if there were no ego in the first place. He keeps it. Even Siddhartha's meditation is distinct since he uses river meditation rather than the conventional Buddhist meditation practices. In contrast to the enlightened masters who are supposed to be the guides along the Buddhist path, he reads the river and uses the ferryman as a guide. Siddhartha rejects Gotama's doctrine and turns to his own searching, contemplation, and learning. Also, compared to Buddhist doctrines like monks and nihilism, Siddhartha's journey more closely resembles Hinduism, such as Samanas, and oneness. Above all, Hesse depicts Siddhartha from the European perspective, which more severely paralyzes Buddhist conviction. These cracks lined up with Lisa Blackman's theory of the sentient body, which blurs the mind-body distinction and emphasizes the neglected problems of the senses to create the lived body. So, Lisa Blackman and Hermann Hesse both challenge the conventional wisdom; Blackman uses Cartesian dualism to rejuvenate the body, while Hesse proposes an alternate path to nirvana by rejecting Buddhist tradition. |
