| 摘要 | Mural paintings on residential houses of Kathmandu Valley are one of few remaining art heritages of Newah (in Nepal Bhasa Newah is pronunciation for Newar) artistic tradition. These paintings point to high degree of aesthetic consummation Newah society achieved. They spread this skill to several of the neighboring regions and countries. Unfortunately, due the recent devastating earthquake and earthquakes in regular intervals, these paintings are in extreme vulnerable condition. Many of the mural paintings attached in this article are no more in existence at the sites. They are destroyed on the process of rebuilding the damaged structures. Due to this reason we don’t have very old mural paintings but Newah influenced mural painting could be found in several of neighboring regions and states. The few remaining mural paintings on residential houses these days are also in precarious state. This article is to bring into attention the much needed attention in conservation and protection of these last remaining artistic heritages of Kathmandu Valley |
