| 摘要 | Since long, it has been a matter of discussion whether Buddhism is merely a religion or philosophy or psychology. Many scholars have seen it through the variety of lenses but its center has not been found yet. It shows that dynamic procedure is required to defi ne it. Some psychologists, on the other hand, are trying to defi ne it on the strong foundation of psychology as most of the teachings of the Buddha are directly related with mind and mental states of human beings. Human beings themselves are dynamic entities which need very minute and scrutiny analysis to reach certain conclusion. Buddhist studies demand holistic approach of study to draw the implied meaning in the Buddha’s preaching. The commonly called academical psychology-like other academical sciences-defined mind in static terms, whereas Buddhist psychology defines mental life in dynamic terms. Most of the readers are misguided by the superficial level of study and hence, unable to grasp the exact meaning of the teaching and interpret accordingly. It is totally useless to hook up the Buddha’s preaching with the varieties of disciplines rather than searching it through the lens of psychology. From the historical point of view, the Buddha is the person who pillared the strong foundation of counseling regarding various, almost all problems of human lives. Hence, Buddhist psychology, in a real sense, is an art of human consciousness. The Buddha is the first man who did research about the psychological attitudes and human nature. The Buddha understood suffering arise in the mind because craving, ignorance and hatred exist in the mind. Until and unless all these impurities are eliminated from our mind, Buddhist study, no way, becomes a beneficial discipline in the vast jungle of human mentality. Since all the teachings of the Buddha are directly related to the purification of mind, it is the only true psychology ever existed on the earth. Everything the Buddha taught is for the sake of developing this inestimable mind. The most precious mind of all, that which cherishes all beings, can become a genuine part of our life, a real gut feeling that motivates us in everything we do, and not just a vague wish. |
