| 摘要 | “I am (chief) Leader of the world I am Eldest in the World I am foremost in the World This is my last Birth There is now no more coming" This is the proclamation made by Siddhartha Gautama while he took birth in Lumbini, Nepal, around 7th century to 6th century B.C. This declaration provides enough room to speculate that he was not an ordinary human being. He knew who he was. It indicates he was born with Boddhi. Although Siddhartha is a historical figure born in the form of human being and became famous as the Buddha after his enlightenment, his biographical account based on Buddhist Pāli and Sanskrit Literature clearly asserts his birth along with Boddhi (Enlightenment). It is not only Sanskrit Buddhist literature that often highlights extraordinary qualities of the Buddha, Pāli literature to which Buddhist canon belong also mentions several such issues which indicate Siddhartha's birth to be with Boddhi. An attempt is made here through this paper to reveal some points in this regard from Pāli literature, mainly from Majjhimanikāya of Tipitaka. The SuttaPitaka of Tipitaka consists of five Nikāyas. The Majjhimanikāya is second among the five. It is believed that Majjhimanikāya is one of the deep, subtle and the most important text. Even when the whole other Pālitext is collapsed, the Majjhimanikāya solely can save the Buddhist Philosophy as it constitutes all aspects of Buddha's teachings. The births, renunciation, his austerity, enlightenment, “turning the wheel of law" are expounded as marvelous, wonderful and surprising in Majjhimanikāya. |
