| 附註項 | Dr. Mudagamuwe Maithrimurthi wurde an der Universität Hamburg in Klassischer Indologie promoviert. Ursprünglich aus Sri Lanka stammend, ist er derzeit an der Universität Heidelberg tätig, wo er vor allem Sanskrit, aber auch Pali, Singhalesisch und zu verschiedenen Themen im Bereich des Buddhismus lehrt. Zuvor lehrte er an den Universitäten Hamburg und Leipzig in Deutschland sowie an der University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Im Jahr 2003 wurde er von der Sächsischen Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Leipzig und der Universität Leipzig mit dem renommierten Friedrich-Weller-Preis ausgezeichnet. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Sanskrit, der frühe Buddhismus, Yogācāra, buddhistische Philosophie, Buddhismus in Sri Lanka, Pāli und Singhalesisch. |
| 摘要 | The term bhaddekaratta occurs in the title of four consecutive discourses (nos. 131–134) in the Majjhimanikāya in the Pāli canon. The first one is directly associated with the Buddha himself while the remaining three discourses are associated with—and respectively named after—three prominent disciples of the Buddha, namely Ānanda, Mahākaccāna, and Lomasakaṅgiya. In the first discourse (no. 131) the Buddha is portrayed as addressing monks in general and proclaims: “O monks, I shall teach you the summary and the exposition of bhaddekaratta” (bhaddekarattassa vo, bhikkhave, uddesañ ca vibhaṅgañ ca desessāmi). |
