| 摘要 | Sitology, religious symbolism, and cosmology of the RAMAGRAM site and its rivers: In its original state, the stupa of RAMAGRAM and its tumulus were placed in a meander loop of the JHARAI River. The latter is joined by the BHALUHI River, forming a point of confluence to the south of the RAMAGRAM. Hence, the stupa is located “on the other bank” from all inhabited territories. Only the lands to the north of the site open onto the Himalayan heights, the skies. Furthermore, it can also be noted that the two consecutive meander loops, forming a S shape at the stupa, evocate the pattern of a swastika(卐), or taijitu(〔). Thus, the reconstitution of the meander loops of the river JHARAI restores to the site the transcendental dimension of the landscape and its religious and cosmologic symbolism. |
