| 摘要 | 경허는 한국 근대불교 시기를 대표하는 선승이었고, 현대 한국불교 조계종단의 법통에서도 중요한 위치를 점하고 있다. 그러나 그의 전법과 관련된 내용은 학술적인 관점에서 봤을 때 모호하고 부정확한 점이 발견된다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점들을 서지학적 관점에서 고찰함으로써, 학술적으로 확인할 수 있는 내용과 그렇지 못한 부분을 명확히 하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 『경허집』의 원판이라 할 수 있는 한암의 육필본과 중앙선원 활자본에서는 경허가 만공에게 남긴 게송을 전법게로 파악하지는 않았던 것으로 보인다. 또 경허가 한암에게 전한 것으로 알려져 있는 「경허화상전별사」는 이흥우라는 저널리스트가 쓴 기사 내용에 대한 전적인 신뢰를 전제로 해서만 유효하다. 그리고 경허가 혜월에게 전한 것으로 알려져 있는 「與法子慧月」 역시 우선 문서 원본에 대한 고증작업이 선행되어야 하고, 여러 가지 확정지을 수 없는 의문점을 남기고 있다. 경허의 「오도가」는 법통에 대한 회의와 혼자서 이룬 깨달음에 대한 자부심을 함축하고 있다. 그에게 깨침이란 인정받거나 공유되거나 전달되거나 복제될 수 있는 것이 아니었다. 경허의 「오도가」에 대해서도 새로운 이해가 필요하다. Ven Song Gyeongheo (1846-1912) is said to be the father of the modern Korean Chan Buddhist restoration, and is recalled in an important position in the transmission of the Joge Order of the Korean Buddhism. Records relating to his dharma-lineage are vague and inaccurate when viewed from an academic perspective. This study examines these issues from bibliographical perspective. And it is defined what is accurate academically. The compilers of handwriting version and printed version of Gyeongheojip, completed works of Gyeongheo, did not regard the document that Gyeongheo had left with Mangong as the gatha of dharma transmission. The letter that Gyeongheo have left Hanam can be valid only if the feature story of journalist Lee Heung-u can be trusted. The Bibliographical review must take the precedence in order for the document that Gyeongheo have left Hyewol to be accepted. The enlightenment song of Gyeongheo implies some doubt about dharma-lineage and pride in his spontaneous enlightenment. Enlightenment does not be admitted, shared, conveyed, or duplicated for him. His enlightenment song needs new understanding. |
