| 摘要 | When annotating the eighty juan Huayan jing八十華厳, Li Tongxuan李通玄 （635-730 or 646-740） used the old translation, Guanshiyin 観世音, instead of the new translation term Guanzizai 観自在. He also constructed the unification of the four truths theory by adding Guanshiyin to the unification of the three truths. This led to clarifying the characteristics of Li Tongxuan’s Huayan ideal. Although there are previous studies on this topic, there are still many points that have not been clarified. This research is based on previous research and Li Tongxuan’s works, as well as his understanding that the compassion and wisdom of Guanshiyin are inextricably connected. I clarify that Guanshiyin immediately unified Puxian 普賢, Samantabhadra, in the unification of the four truths. |
