摘要
This research is a pioneering work in combining Buddhist doctrine with dance in an attempt to disseminate Buddhist teachings through new formats. It merges creative and qualitative research with the objectives of 1)creating dance patterns and 2)exploring dance creation concepts – ones through which Buddhist teachings can be most effectively communicated. It applies interdisciplinary methods of study based on Buddhist doctrines, dance, music, visual arts, and social science. The results show that 1) the pattern of dance was developed from eight elements of dance which include script, music, choreography, performers, costumes, props, performance area, and light; and 2) the dance creation concept focused on seven aspects which include the Buddhist teaching on Samma Ditthi, dance symbolism and communication, simplicity based on postmodern dance, dance creativity, theories of dance/ music/ visual arts, social reflection through dance, and creative performance for youths. This research is considered a pioneer in combining the Buddhism Doctrine with Dance.
