| 摘要 | 의례는 인류사의 공통분모일 정도로 중요한 주제다. 이를 반영하여 해외 학계에서는 의례에 대한 연구 성과가 활발하게 이루어지고 있으며, 최근에는 국내의 관련 연구 성과도 괄목할만할 정도의 양적 증가를 보여 왔다. 그러나 선행 연구 업적 경시와 불충분한 논증 등의 문제점들도 등장하고 있다. 이러한 입장에서 이 논문의 목적은 세계 속의 한국 불교의례 연구의 현황을 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 한국 불교의례 연구의 발전적 미래를 위한 방안을 모색하려는 데 있다. 이를 위해 (1) 세계의 의례 연구 동향 검토, (2) 한국의 불교의례 연구 현황 분석, (3) 한국 불교의례 연구의 발전적 미래를 위한 방안이 논의된다. 이 연구의 방법론은 문헌분석법이며, 본 주제 관련 연구 업적 가운데 학술적 인용 빈도가 가장 높은 것은 전문 학술서다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 한국의 불교의례와 관련된 특정 주제에 대한 논증을 시도한 학술서들을 중심으로 한 주요 연구 성과가 비교 검토된다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 한국 불교의례 연구의 발전적 미래를 위해서는 연구 주체의 전문화, 질적 수월성 지향, 형식의 구체화, 내용의 충실화 및 연구 주제의 다양화가 필요함을 주장한다. 이 연구는 우리 학계의 불교의례 연구뿐 아니라, 불교학과 인문학 분야의 향후 연구에도 일정한 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Rituals are important as a common denominator in human history. Reflecting this, foreign academics have achieved remarkable research results on rituals. Since the 1990s, there has been increasing research on Buddhist rituals in Korea. However, problems including insufficient review of previous research achievements and lack of arguments have appeared. From this perspective, the purpose of this research is to propose strategies for the development of research on Buddhist rituals in Korea by examining the current status of research from the perspective of academics. The following three issues are discussed: (1) research trends in rituals worldwide; (2) the current status of research on Buddhist rituals in Korea; and (3) plans for the development of research on Buddhist rituals in Korea. The methodology of this research includes text analysis and academic books such as monographs, which are the most frequently cited. Therefore, this study reviews and compares major research results on Buddhist rituals in Korea, focusing on monogrpahs demonstrating specific topics related to representative Buddhist rituals in pre-modern Korea. Based on this, I argue that for the developmental future of research on Buddhist rituals in Korea, it is necessary to pursue qualitative excellence, clarify the form, enhance the content, and expand the research subject. This study is expected to contribute not only to the study of Buddhist rituals, but also to future studies in the fields of Buddhism and humanities. |
