| 摘要 | This paper studies not only Sekisen Sōei’s (1762–1782) heterodoxy in Shin Buddhism, but also the response thereto by Honnyo (1778–1826) in his Tasshigaki (“Notice”). The result is that it is while one must seek the meaning of the words of the Seven Patriarchs in the mirror of Shinran’s opinions, it is insufficient merely to be satisfied that there are no problems at the literal level: rather, it must be possible for a beginner to understand without being led astray. |
