| 摘要 | 본 논문은 탄트라의 주요 의례인 베탈라 의례에 대한 연구이다. 이 연구를 위해 인도문헌인 『베탈라25話』(Vetālapañcavimśati)와 한역불전을 자료로 이용했다. 이를 통해 기시귀로 한역된 베탈라는 단지 시체를 움직이는 귀신이라는 의미보다는, 시체라는 일종의 램프 속에 들어있는 램프의 요정이며, 베탈라에 빙의된 시체는 여의자재의 능력을 상징하는 근두운이나 여의주, 여의봉과 같은 성격을 가진 것으로 파악되었다. 또 『베탈라25話』나 한역불전에 나타난 베탈라 의례 관련 내용은 가)알맞은 시체의 종류, 나)의례의 조력자, 다)의례에 알맞은 장소, 라)의례단의 건립, 마)시체의 처리, 바)공양물, 사)진언 염송, 아)잡신의 침범과 예방법, 자)의례를 통해 얻을 수 있는 초능력을 다루고 있음이 나타난다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 힌두탄트라 의례 연구에 있어서 한역불전이 새로운 자료가 될 수 있음을 확인할 수 있다. This paper considers the ritual for the vetāla which is a vampire in India. We analyze vetāla stories and rituals in Vetālapañcavimśati(25 stories of vampire) and buddhist texts in Taisho Tripitaka for this study. So we can find that the characteristic of vetāla is not simply a ghost moving a dead body, rather we can call it the genie in the magic lamp, and the dead body possessed by vetāla as a magical jewel that is said to be able to grant all wishes, namely, cintamani. We also find that the contents related with vetāla stories and rituals in Vetālapañcavimśati and buddhist texts in Taisho Tripitaka are as follows 1) a good dead body for the vetāla ritual, 2) a assistant for the ritual, 3) a good place for the ritual, 4) the way to make the platform for the ritual, 5) the way of adornment for a dead body 6) the present offered to vetāla, 7) mantra chanting for the ritual, 8) the way protecting from other ghost's invasion. Through this study, we can find that buddhist texts translated to Chinese character would be good source in the field of the Hindu tantra rituals. |
