| 摘要 | Zen is the Buddhist movement which supports creative daily life with wisdom through Zen practices. In order to lead religious life in daily activities, there must be simple ways to attain Buddhist teachings. For the sake of self-realization of the Buddhist teachings, one should learn the whole doctrine of Buddhism and make a part of oneself by Zen practices. Without the self-realization there is no creative life of wisdom, no altruistic deeds for sentient beings. In fact there cannot be Buddhist teaching with no regard to daily works. To realize Buddhist teaching in daily activities we should need a simple but effective way of attaining wisdom here and now. The Munsu preaching wisdom and the Awakening of faith in Mahāyāna provide the method of “concentrating on one practice”, which is one of Zen practices of “Non-mind”. This practice is invented for people who are engaged in their works to practice without difficulty. Buddhist sects in China(e.g. Samlonjong, Hwaeomjong, Cheontaejong, Beobsangjong) flourished once a while but faded away due to the lack of easy way of practice for people. By contrast, Zen and Pure Land sect supply the simple way for people so that they could continue to prosper in spite of the persecution. Zen is to be aware of false thought arising as it is arising and to lead daily life here and now while Pure Land sect invents the way of listening to one's own voice while reciting “Namo Amitabuddha.” In addition, there are several ways invented for people to follow easily: Sinhoi's teaching of mindfulness being a door to the mysterious; Practice of the character “Ah” in Tantrism; Zozu's Nothingness. Zen is a religion of self-enlightenment, healing the illnesses of false mind. Self-enlightenment is to observe the insanity of defiled mind and return to the original health. The arising of defilement in mind is called life while the disappearance of the defilement which has arisen is called death. Life and death refers to movement of false thought. To solve the great task of life and death, one must be aware of movement of mind from moment to moment here and now. |
