| 摘要 | The Three Types of Learning are precepts, meditation and wisdom. They are the basis of Buddhist practice. Each of them are by itself of importance to make one obtain the higher spritual level. Depending on each other, however, they are interrelated by nature. It is in Chinese Chan that the Three Types of Learning was fully developed in their interrelation as a Buddhist way of practice. Boddhidharma, the first partriarch of Chan, has his own view of them, differenciating it from those of Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhism. For instance, Boddhidharma sometime gives empasis on strictly following precepts. On the other hand, he other time urges to ignore of it. The aim of this paper is to investigate the view of Boddhidharma on the Three Types of Learning in his works. My paper shows the followings: 1) With regard to karma theory in Early Buddhism, Boddhidharma takes notice of hinderance caused by breaking precepts. In this case, he states to well preserve precepts; 2) Concerning prañā theory of Mahayana Buddhism, Boddhidharma understands that there is no hinderance in any situation and so there is no need to practice in order to remove it. In this case, he does not focus on following the Three Types of Learning at all; and 3) In the works of Boddhidharma, there are influence from Old San-lun Studies of Dosaeng. It bears fruit of making the Three Types of Learning localized as the way of practice. |
