| 摘要 | As a result of the down-sizing designs, the abilities of personal computers have recently risen to a much higher level to become competitive with those of large computers. This has made them sufficiently powerful for the analysts of text data. Taking account of these advancements, we started to investigate to what extent a personal computer is efficient for the analysis of the Uttarajjhāayāa in Prāakrit which is one of the most important canons in early Jainism. Since a direct treatment of the Uttarajjhāayāa in Devanāagāar characters by personal computer is at present impossible for lack of computational tools to read these characters, we analysed the text in Roman instead. For this purpose, we first made up the Prāakrit fount set in Roman by personal computer Macintosh™. Next, using the computer language 'Think Pascal™, we coded the program for the analysis of metres of the Uttarajjhāayāa typed in our founts. The metrical scheme of sixteen syllables in the half-verse, i.e. the usual Sloka, and the modified Sloka consisting of seventeen syllables can be analysed based on the four standard types of the metre. We also made programs to compile automatically an index, a reverse-index and a pada-index for the whole text of the Uttarajjhāyā. These may be very useful to establish a critical edition or a translation of the Uttarajjhāayāa. |
