도침의 불교사상과 백제부흥운동 : 『仁王護國般若波羅蜜多經』을 기반으로 한 한국 최초의 호국운동=The Buddhist Thought of Dochim and the Revival Movement of Baekje : The First Movement for Defending one’s own Fatherland in Korea Peninsula Based on the Renwang huguo banruo poluomiduo jing

도침과 복신이 시작한 백제부흥운동은 임존성과 주류성을 배경으로 일어난다. 주류성 위치에 대한 논의가 많았지만, 그 논의의 배경은 주로 문헌학과 군사지리학적 개념이 주를 이루었다. 그러나 백제부흥운동의 배경에서 간과할 수 없는 것은 백제의 고유한 사상, 관습을 비롯해 불교가 국가 및 사회에 끼친 영향력 역시 매우 크다는 점이다. 특히 부흥운동의 중심축이었던 도침이 승려 출신이라는 점은 특이할만한 부분이다. 그럼에도 도침의 불교사상을 백제 불교의 일반적 특성으로 해석함으로써 백제부흥운동과의 연관성을 찾는 연구는 미진했다. 이에 본고에서는 도침과 동일한 시대에 활동했던 의각 및 각종의 사찰 창건, 일본 내에서의 활동 등을 통해 도침의 불교사상을 유추해보았다. 기존에 법화사상 혹은 미륵사상으로 해석되었던 도침의 불교사상은 오히려 『인왕경』을 바탕으로 한 호국ㆍ호법의 사상이 강했다는 점을 밝히는 것과 동시에 도침의 활동영역이 임존성이었을 가능성이 높다는 것을 밝혔다. 또한 백제의 사비시대 당시, 오악(五岳) 가운데 북악이 임존성이었으며, 국가제사의례와 불교의례가 융합되었을 가능성에 관해 논의를 진행하였다. 그리고 도침의 『인왕경』 수지독송과 이와 관련된 여러 행보들은 후에 부여 풍에 의한 주류성에서의 제사의식으로 이어지는 것을 확인하였다. 지금까지 백제사, 군사학, 지리학적 접근에서 탈피하여 백제부흥운동의 사상적 의의를 찾아보고자 하는 것이다. 이를 통해 고대 국가가 가진 ‘의례’와 외래종교이기는 하지만 동아시아 세계에서의 확고한 위치를 자리매김한 불교와의 결합 문제를 통해 현재 진행 중인 주류성에 대한 위치 비정 문제를 정신적ㆍ사상적 차원에서 재접근하였다.
Dochim and Boksin’s movement to revive Baekje arose in Imjon-sung and Juryu-sung. There has been many discussions about the location of Juryu-sung mostly based on bibliography and military science. However, in consideration of the influence of Buddhism on Baekje’s national ideology and social custom, Buddhism must have been one of the major momentum of the revival movement of Baekje. Also, it is remarkable that Dochim, one of the heads of the movement, was a Buddhist monk. Even so, there have been few researches about how Dochim’s religious thought affected the movement. Based on activities such as building temples and missionary activities in Japan of Uigak and Gakjong who lived at the same time with Dochim, Dochim’s religious thoughts can be ascertained a little. So far Dochim’s Buddhist thought has been regarded as Dharma- flower or Maitreya. However it seems that his thought was more like protecting a country or protecting the Buddha-truth, based on the Renwang huguo banruo poluomiduo jing according to this research. Moreover, Dochim’s activity domain can be assumed to be Imjon-sung. This research has also focused on the possibility of Imjon-sung to be Pugak (Northern Mountain) of Five Sacred Mountains in Sabi Period in Baekje, and on the possibility of Baekje’s national ritual ceremony to have absorbed Buddhist elements. Dochim’s Sujidoksong, which means to receive, retain, read and recite the illustrious doctrines and teachings of Buddha, other related activities lead us persuasively to rituals in Juryu-sung later. Even though Buddhism was a foreign religion, it definitely affected countries in East Asia in many ways. Through ascertaining the connection between rituals of ancient countries and Buddhism, this research tries to make an additional assumption about the location of Juryu-sung based on ideological dimensions.
