| 摘要 | 노인 인구의 증가, 가족구조의 변화, 부양의식의 변화 등으로 인해 노인요양시설에서 생활하는 노인 규모가 증가하고 있으며, 앞으로도 확대될 것으로 예측되고 있다. 노인요양시설에 입소한 노인들은 대부분 임종 직전까지 시설에서 생활한다. 하지만 시설에서 임종하는 사례보다는 병원에서 사망하는 사례가 일반적이다. 노화를 질병으로 죽음을 의료의 실패로 보는 사회적 분위기에서 임종 과정에 접어든 입소노인들은 오랜 시간 생활한 시설에서 임종을 맞이하지 못하고, 대부분 병원으로 이송되고 치료 과정 중에 죽음을 맞이한다. 이러한 사회현실에서 노인의 죽음의 질에 대한 관심이 높아졌고, 자연스러운 삶의 마무리를 희망하는 입소노인과 가족의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있도록 시설에서도 임종이 가능해야 한다는 사회적 논의가 시작되었다. 이러한 상황에서 불교계 노인요양시설 중에서 시설임종이 이루어지고 임종 과정에서 임종 돌봄 서비스가 실천되는 곳이 있다. 이 연구에서는 이 시설에서 제공되는 임종 돌봄 서비스와 이 과정에서 정서적·영적 돌봄 프로그램의 역할을 하는 종교 프로그램을 함께 정리하였다. Due to the increase of the elderly population, the change of family structure, and the change of support consciousness, the size of the elderly residents in Long-Term Care Facilities (referred to as ‘facilities’ in the following) is increasing and is expected to expand more rapidly in the future. Many elderly residents have entered the terminal stage in facilities. However, deaths in hospitals are more common than deaths in facilities presently. In a social atmosphere where aging is a disease and death is a medical failure, elderly residents, who are in the process of dying, do not die in the facility where they have been living for a long time but die in the hospital during treatment. In this social reality, the social interest in the quality of the death of the elderly has increased, and social debate has started that death should also be possible in facilities to satisfy the needs of the elderly and their families who hope for their natural finish. In this social reality, there is a Buddhist elderly nursing home where dying in the facility and End-of-Life care services are practiced in the process of dying. This study summarizes the End-of-Life Care Services provided by this facility, as well as religious programs that serve as emotional and spiritual care programs. |
