| 摘要 | 판소리는 민중들의 생활문화를 반영해주는 대표적인 민속예술로 그 속에는 민중들이 일 상생활에서 즐겨 사용하는 어휘와 어구 그리고 담화가 고스란히 담겨져 있다. 특히 오랜 시 간 동안 민중들의 일상적인 생활 속에서 마음의 안식처요, 삶의 근원으로 그 역할을 묵묵히 담당해 오고 있는 불교와 관련한 어휘가 많이 반영되어 있다. 판소리에서 연행되거나 구술되는 불교어휘는 전문적인 불경이나 사상은 물론이고 민중들 에게 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 역사적인 인물이나 고소설 속의 불교어휘와 일상적인 생활공 간에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 지역성이 두드러지는 불교어휘도 많이 포함되어 있어서 민중들에 게 친근함과 익숙함을 제공해 준다. 본 논문에서는 판소리 속에 녹아있는 불교어휘를 통하여 불교문화와의 연관성을 살펴보기 위하여 문화언어학적인 입장에서 판소리 다섯마당 속의 불교어휘를 분석하였는데, 판소리의 이본(異本)을 가능한 모두 참고하여 판소리 문화 관련 어휘를 분석의 기초자료로 삼아서 모 두 150여개의 불교어휘를 문화언어학적으로 분석하였다. 판소리 속에 전승되고 있는 불교어 휘 150여개를 다섯 가지 주제와 유형으로 나누어서 고찰해 보면 그 중에서도 불교의 상징세 계와 우주관 및 생사관(이승과 저승)과 관련된 불교어휘가 가장 많은 빈도수를 가지고 있으 며, 다음으로 자주 사용되는 어휘는 불교의 주요한 불보살 및 수호신과 관련된 불교어휘와 불교 관련 민간의식(意識)과 의례, 시구(詩句) 및 진언(眞言)과 민요 등과 관련된 불교어휘 이다. 판소리 다섯마당에 반영되어 있는 불교어휘는 민중들과 공감대를 형성하면서 ‘창과 아 니리’라는 연행방식을 가지고 구술되기 때문에 과거는 물론이고 동시대 민중들에게 공감대 를 형성할 수 있는 전통적인 방식의 불교관련 말뭉치(corpus) 언어자원으로 향후 좀 더 많 은 관심과 연구가 필요하다. This paper deals with Buddhist terms inside Pansori from the standpoint of cultural linguistics. In other words, this research investigates Buddhist terms and culture by examining practical language usages inside Pansori. Pansori is an ideal linguistic text providing grassroot culture and tradition. This is because Pansori contains various aspects of mundane life narrated in people’s ordinary language and vocabulary. Since Buddhism was an influential belief among grassroot people in traditional society, Buddhist terms are easily visible inside Pansori. On the base of subjects those Buddhist terms are divided into five main categories: Buddhist gods and deities, Buddhist texts and monks as well as ritual ornaments, temples and additional ritual buildings, symbolic cosmology and vies on life and death, rituals and poetic phrases of Buddhism. In particular, Buddhist terms for symbolic cosmology and views on life and death are most frequently used inside Pansori compared to the other categories of Buddhist terms. The second most frequent category of Buddhist terms is the category dealing with gods and deities. Terms used inside Pansori present actual language usages of grassroot people in both traditional and contemporary society. Hence, these various Buddhist terms inside Pansori can be regarded as new and important corpus resources for future linguistic researches. |
