| 摘要 | 對於聖嚴法師而言，遊覽山水從來不是他的旅行動機，弘揚佛法才是讓他走遍世界，甚至抱病旅行的主要動力；而在各種弘法工作中，又以禪修的推廣最為重要。禪修教學、禪學史的講說，乃至禪學概念的論述，常出現在他的旅行書寫中。另一方面，聖嚴法師幾乎每有旅行必留下遊記，他的旅行與旅行之後所留下的遊記，不僅是他旅行經驗的記載，更是他教學與弘法的方法。然則，聖嚴法師如何在旅行書寫中達成禪學與禪修的教學？如何透過「敘述」的方式，達成禪學概念的傳遞與禪修的實踐？本論文希望透過再次深入閱讀與分析聖嚴法師的旅行書寫成果，提出發現並對上述問題給予合理的解答，以深化聖嚴法師旅行書寫之相關研究。 For Master Sheng Yen, travel was not the end itself but means to promote the teaching of Buddhism. Driven by his deep faith and enthusiasm for the salvation of humans from suffering, he travelled from country to country, several times a year even when his health was in poor condition. Of all the trips that Master Sheng Yen took, many were to teach Chan meditation. The detailed teaching of Chan meditation techniques, the history of Chan in China and the explanation of Chan texts are abundant in his travel writings. For every trip he took, Master Sheng Yen recorded his journey. His travel writings not only contain his travel experiences but also included his teaching of Buddhism. However, how did Master Sheng Yen present his Chan teaching in his travel writings? How did he try to introduce his understanding of major concepts of Chan and his practice of Chan through his unique style of narration? This paper will attempt to answer these questions by a close reading and an in-depth analysis on Master Sheng Yen’s travel writings. Through this paper, I aim to re-evaluate Master Sheng Yen’s travel literature by clearly defining the value and contribution on travel writings. |
