| 摘要 | This paper presents a critical edition and annotated translation of the first chapter of the Madhyāntavibhāgabhāṣya (MAVBh) and Madhyāntavibhāgaṭīkā (MAVṬ).
This paper deals in detail with the section on sadasallakṣaṇa of the first chapter . Madhyāntavibhāga I-1 has reached considerable popularity and is often quoted in the literature of not only the Yogācāra school but also later Buddhist schools.
The extant Sanskrit manuscript of MAVṬ is damaged and incomplete, about one third of it is missing. Yamaguchi restored the missing parts by reconstructing the Sanskrit text from the corresponding Tibetan translation but Yamaguchi’s reconstruction is not always perfect; the edition created Bhattacharya-Tucci at times gives better reconstructions. I tried to improve Yamaguchi’s edition by recovering possible Sanskrit words, phrases and sentences from the portions of this text available in Sanskrit and carefully re-examining the extant Sanskrit manuscript. |
