This paper is a continuation of “Annotated Japanese Translation of the Abhidharmasamuccaya and its Bhāṣya (3)”, which intends to revise the Sanskrit texts of the Abhidharmasamuccaya and its Bhāṣya, and to make a Japanese translation of them. This paper gives translation to a part of the establishment (vyavasthiti) of the saṃskāraskandha in the first tridharma chapter of the first part, i.e., the maula part. This part enumerates and defines the mental elements (caitasika-dharma) in terms of their characteristics (lakṣaṇa) and functions (karman). These mental elements include twenty subsidiary defilements (upakleśa) such as irritation (krodha) and four undetermined mental elements(aniyata) such as drowsiness (middha). The translation was done by Abhidharmasamuccaya Study Group: Yoshihiko Nasu prepared a working translation and annotations, then Kazuo Kano and all other members examined and revised them. Li Xuezhu gave us a full cooperation in editing and revising the Sanskrit texts included in this paper.
