The thought of the unification of the three schools(Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism)reached the zenith in the late Ming dynasty.Fang Yizhi also followed the academic trend of the times.He set forth a perfectly fused system with the dialectical relationship between one & two in which adapting to the thoughts of the three schools.In Fang’s theory,two is not unchanged but actually one;one does not stop at one but extend to be two.It manifests an identical character in the thoughts of the three schools:the basic idea that runs through the entire Confucian teachings,the Three Truths in Buddhist thought,the thought that never does yet all things are done in Daoist theory.He showed an inclination of intellectualism when discussing the unification of the three schools,giving prominence to the thinking mode.
