The aim of this study was to investigate the afterlife beliefs and life attitudes of the current students studying in theological and Buddhist colleges, and to figure out the differences in their afterlife beliefs and life attitudes. Then, to find out the relationship between afterlife beliefs and life attitudes and to evaluate the clarities of the items shown in the questionnaire of Afterlife Beliefs Scale. Total of 145 students studying in theological or Buddhist colleges around northern area of Taiwan were recruited to join the investigation. The investigation was conducted by questionnaire survey using the tools of Afterlife Beliefs Scale and Life Attitude Scale. Based on the results of investigation and discussion, we drew many conclusions shown as the followings: 1. Backgrounds of students from theological and Buddhist colleges are significantly different in the degree of education, individual religious belief, the religious beliefs of parents, the influences of religious beliefs in childhood, and religious doctrines. 2. Afterlife beliefs of students from theological and Buddhist colleges are significantly different in the underling determining mechanism, the scenario of afterlife, being believer , being unbeliever, judgment, atonement, karma, transmigration of the soul, another world, being ghost or God, and translation of life. 3. Their life attitudes are significantly different in the feelings of existence. 4. The connection between afterlife and life attitudes is significant in part of subscale for students from theological and Buddhist colleges 5. Sometimes, the accuracy of questionnaire survey was affected by the misunderstanding to the religious terminology for believers of the other religion.
