The six manuscripts of Shiershi Puquan Sizong Yijiaoxiuxing among the Dunhuang documents can be divided into three transcription systems respectively transcribed from 891 to 924 CE. The text was written between the leap-year march of 885 and January 8 of 891. Zhiyan, who is generally considered to be the author of this text, is just its disseminator; the true author remaining unknown. This is one of many literary works used for purposes of cultural promotion, which can be regarded as a category of Dunhuang literature.
