Combining Buddhist texts,relevant documents,and Buddhist images and statues,this paper addresses a few inevitable and basic problems regarding Buddha’s clothes,such as how Buddha’s clothes are classified,whether the antarvasa is worn on the lower body or the upper body,and whether the painshan(a kind of monk’s gown draped slantingly over the left shoulder) should be applied to Buddhist statues in China.
