This paper analyzes, from the relationship of Bishmon and rats, connection between rats, a symbol of God of wealth in ancient India, and the God of wealth Vaiśravaṇa; and further studies the role the rat as local deity of Khotan played in the belief of Vaiśravaṇa and the interrelation between Vaiśravaṇa and rats in Dunhuang and inland China.
