Hu Shi’s initiation of the research on Dunhuang Studies grew from his skepticism of historical materials of Zen.As a historian,he attached great importance to the first-hand Dunhuang documents.With a revolutionary spirit,he "restored" the revolutionary role of Shen Hui,Master of the Heze Sect.It was through this unique approach to research that Hu Shi exhibited a unique style in his Dunhuang Studies.This paper discusses Hu Shi’s researches on Dunhuang colloquial literature.
