| 摘要 | Tianlongshan Grottoes is a Buddhist Cave temple located on the outskirts of Tai Yuan City in Shanxi Province, China. It has been well known all over the world for its excellent group of Buddha statues since it is discovered in the early 20th Century. From the east peak to the west peak, there are a total of twenty four caves which are numbered one to twenty one. The Grottoes were likely initially constructed during the Eastern Wei Dynasty (6^ | Century) and the area seems to have entered into the height of its prosperity during the Tang Dynasty. It is probable that the first, tenth and sixteenth caves were built during the Northern Qi Dynasty and it is possible that they were built in the secondary stage of building. However it is difficult to judge because the styles of these three caves are not all the same and the difference is especially pronounced with respect to the first cave. In this article we will focus on these three caves built in Northern Qi Dynasty and estimate when they were built and examine the significance of Northern Qi Dynasty in Tianlongshan Grottoes.Tianlongshan Grottoes is a Buddhist Cave temple located on the outskirts of Tai Yuan City in Shanxi Province, China.
