| 摘要 | This paper explores at what point in Korean history the interaction between Buddhism and Pungsu (風水, C. Fengshui, J. Fusui) began and how the interaction formed and developed itself, and lastly what influence it had on the Korean society as well as on Buddhism and Pungsu. The interaction between Buddhism and Pungsu, which began after the introduction of Seon Buddhism in the late-Silla (新羅) period, acted as a spatial ideology that empowered the powerful local gentries to trigger a social upheaval in the late Silla period, and was used by the government leaders for political purposes throughout the Goryeo (高麗) period. In the Joseon (朝鮮) period, the link between Buddhism and Pungsu weakened and was felt only at the grass-roots level. |
