Buddhism, as a kind of religion which concerns the development of human society, has rich connotations of environmental protection. The theory of Buddhism about Pratitya-samutpady is highly consistent with modem ecological views about the environmental protection, in which areas that Buddhism provides enormous wisdom and value on concept and practice. This paper intends to research on "FaYuanzhuLin", which was called "Buddhism Encyclopedia", by inspecting the subjects about protecting natural environment, cherishing life and resources, as well as having compassion for others. This paper also analyzed the significance of ecological thoughts of Buddhism and emphasized the direction from ecological protection to soul purification to realize the dream of building the paradise in the world.
